Dye-No-Mite! Swap Info & Sign-Up

This is an international secret swap for people who love crafting with hand-dyed and hand-painted things!

Deadline to sign up: March 21, 2007
Swap Run: March 28, 2007 through June 6, 2007
(10 weeks)
Notification of swap buddy assignments (1 partner per person): via email on or before March 28.

SWAP RULES:

  1. Participation: Spinners, Knitters, Crocheters and other Fiber enthusiasts over age 16 are all welcome. This is an international swap, but if you have a strong preference to swap with someone who resides in the same country as you do, please indicate your preference when you sign up. We will try our best to accommodate the request, but cannot guarantee it. Organizers are in the U.S.
  2. Anonymous e-mails: Because this is a secret swap (makes it more fun!), you are required to have an anonymous email address. You will use the anonymous email address to correspond and communicate with your swap buddy throughout the course of the swap run. Get to know your buddy and find out what his/her likes, interests and hobbies are. Maintain your anonymity until the end of the swap.
  3. Monetary commitment/contribution: You should commit $40 US Dollars over the course of the 10-week swap run. This does not include the time you take to make something for your swap buddy, but it can include any postage costs. This just makes the swap as fair as possible for everyone who participates. You can send your buddy several smaller packages or just one large package, so long as the value is $40 US Dollars minimum.
  4. What to send to your assigned swap buddy:
    • Because the theme of the Dye-No-Mite Swap is hand-dyed and painted items, at least half of what you send to your swap buddy must be something hand-dyed or painted either by you or someone else, and it should be craft-related. You can send yarn, fabric, art, roving, paper or any crafty thing that is hand-dyed or painted. The other half of what you send is up to you. Keep in mind to send things that your buddy would like and appreciate.
    • You must send your swap buddy at least 2 postcards, cards, notes or letters during the course of the swap. Why? Because people hardly write anymore and getting something in the mailbox besides junk mail is fun!
  5. Blogs: Having a blog is not required for participation in this swap. You can post your goodies on this blog. However, if you want to set up your own blog, you can set one up easily for free or for a nominal fee. There are many blogging options and they're all pretty user friendly, such as Blogger, Wordpress and Typepad, etc.
COMMON COURTESIES
  • If your Dye-No-Mite buddy is sending you packages and spoiling you, consider sending them an email to let them know that you received your package. You could also publicly thank them via your blog or post on the swap blog, or all of the above!
  • Sometimes life happens. If you are not able to follow through with your responsibilities, and can no longer participate, please let your hostessess know as soon as possible.
  • If you are not receiving any notes or packages from your buddy, please let the hostesses know as soon as possible and do NOT publicly blast them on your blog. You would not want someone doing the same thing to you. Contact us and we will attempt to get to the bottom of any issues as soon as possible.

ANGELS

In case someone can no longer participate, we would need volunteers to step in and help out by sending stuff to the buddy left hanging. If you are willing to do this, please let us know when you sign up. You will receive our thanks, love and gratitude!

YADA, YADA, YADA

  • If you flake or drop out of the swap after it has begun without good reason, you will be blacklisted for future swaps. You will also be blacklisted if you fail to participate as you’ve agreed.
  • Your hostesses for this swap are volunteering our time to organize this swap. Please keep in mind that we are volunteering our time to run this event. We will try our best to answer any questions or emails in a timely manner. We are also open to suggestions and ideas.
  • Do you have a great idea for some blog bling? Email your button designs to the hostesses.
